PS> Smaller size on disk also means a faster load. I don't PS> always have a browser running... I don't like it when my PS> browser needs half a minute to come up. I don't like it when ZoneAlarm tells me a browser is asking for *server rights* before it's even visibly loaded. It also wants to access the internet beforehand too. It's only after the main window pops up that DUN is invoked. I also like a browser that doesn't take 3/4 of a second for its own menu choices to appear when clicked. Maybe they're developing it on an "ancient" PIV 3gHz system? Sure seems slow on my P166. There's a bit of an Easter Egg hunt too, to find which options actually do something, and which ones just have little notes to the programmers. Pretty much everywhere, the "Help" button does nothing. In Download Manager History... "XXXben - blake, we need at the very least a toggle here, probably a retention window as well" To get rid of the DUN popup, I set the homepage to "about:blank". It can't seem to remember that I set "blank" as the homepage. I click the little house, it often wants to go to Gozilla. Sometimes the address window is blank, sometimes "about:", very rarely "about:blank". I can make it leave parts of the "Imported IE favorites" lists behind on-screen. Go down a level or two, right-click any item, then don't choose one of the options, just click somewhere else. Of course, if you do that, chances are you won't even be able to access the list unless you close and reopen the browser. Several other little things bug me too, like clicking Help, About... brings up a cute litttle box, but clicking on the Copyright link brings up a screen with no "back" button, and no apparent way to get back to the normal browser. I finally gave up and clicked the "X" to close it, and whoop-dee-do, there's the first window. No visible indication anywhere that this was another "instance" of the brower that had opened. Not on the taskbar, not with Ctrl-Alt-Del, nowhere. Sorry, but in my opinion, Firebird is "not ready for prime-time". * SLMR 2.1a * --- Maximus 3.01* Origin: The BandMaster, Vancouver, B.C., Canada (1:153/7715) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 153/7715 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
