When I first started modeming, I had lots of problems with mega line

noise. I got to see a hell of a lot of different BBS menus that I wasn't

interested in when the line noise was interpreted(?) as a menu choice. I've

overcome a lot of it by using "02" in front of any local (in Sydney) calls

I make to modems. I figure the STD equipment will probably boost my signal

a bit and get it a bit taller so it can see over the line-noise grass (sort

of like the "Warethafukrwee Tribe"). Maybe some of Pauls Point could try

this as well.

BL> Yair... I'm big on theory but I don't have any real knowledge of the

My knowledge stopped in 1968 when I joined the Navy as a communications tech.

Up till then, I was installing Cross-bar exchanges and still conversant with

"Strouger pre 2000" equipment (bulk 2000 type relays, sometimes known as

the "Chase-me,Fuck-me Click Clack" system.)
