I was hoping those among you with some linguistic talent might be able to
translate my surname KALAMIR. In its modern form it is Croatian, although
family tradition insists that our ancestry is Hungarian. Subsequently I have
been told that it may be a form of the word KALMAR which means "a small
merchant", and that it may be of Austrian or Bayern origin.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
