WOW!, I sure do feel better now. I thought that you were going to get some
sort of a law passed that I had to give 10% of my money to buy alcohol and
dope for folks who don't work. Ryan, I think that you are the classist.
You are looking for some sort of excuse to justify why you aren't rich, other
than your own lack of motivation and poor habits. I don't decide what the
street people will do or not do, but I do decide what I do with my money that
I've earned. I've not lost any sleep over not buying alcohol and dope for
them. I have been active in trying to help them escape their slavery in many
ways, but they have to be a willing participant for there to be any chance.
I'm not a wealthy person, but the money, food, and clothing provided by many
just like me does help to provide survival and choices for many folks who
created their own slavery and condition. IMHO those who encourage this
slavery are CLASSISTS. What would you call folks who support the following
programs with their time, efforts, and money: 1) food banks; 2) soup
kitchens; 3) substance abuse programs; 4) halfway houses; 5) the Salvation
Army; 6) shelters; 7) Goodwill Industries; 8) job training programs, and
etc.? Your previous messages indicate you would probably call them CLASSISTS.
You would also say these programs are PATRONIZING since they don't provide
alcohol and dope to the people they are trying to help. Ryan, do you really
think that providing alcohol and dope would represent real assistance to
these folks? IMHO, alcohol and dope are simply like a giant thumb that holds
each of them down in the mud and puts many of them in an early grave. You
are a part of the "giant thumb", so you must enjoy keeping these folks in
their current condition. Do you work for a "CLASSIST" or are you one?
