Could you possibly be mistaken about the year? The Beatles didn't start
their official recording career until October 1962. The only recording
of the Beatles you'd have been likely to hear that year was "Love Me
Do", and then only if they special-ordered it from Parlophone in England
(it wasn't yet released in the United States).
Most skating rinks were not known for their musical perspicacity. They
played what was popular at the time, usually what was available
domestically.
The only other option would be one of the Tony Sheridan singles, but
that strikes me as highly unikely as well.
Early 1964 is a very much more likely scenario. Could that have been the
actual year you remember? Beatles music was pretty ubiquitous by that time.
