AG> I can confirm that you CAN compile programs with VAC++ 3.01 on an 8MB 486, AG> but crawl is nearer the mark. C++ does compile eventually, but the visual AG> tools don't work. (However, I couldn't get them to work on 24MB machine AG> either.) I've used the visual tools for about a week on this 16MB machine, but it sure was painful for my hard disk. Swapping was excessive, with my usual 32MB startup swap not being enough. I saw it grow to 70MB once :-) But even with the constant hard disk activity, the tools worked if I was patient with it. For example, sometimes I had to hold the mouse button down for about a minute before Visual Builder would notice that I want to drag an object :-) Now that I've used it on a machine with 64MB, I won't even install it on anything with less than 32MB memory. --- GoldED/2* Origin: ... only a hobby, it's only a hobby, it's ...
