It surprised me that they even dared to make that promotion.  Years ago
they had a campaign in the works that featured "Budman", a cute little
cartoon guy in a blue cape and mask and red tights.  They dropped that
campaign before it ever went national for fear of the very thing that
Joe Camel got hit with.

It ain't just the alcoholic beverage industry, it's widely diverse
industries in all sorts of areas.  Consider all them evil SUVs and the
folks who make them and the folks who drive them.
IMO, the tobacco industry should never have considered any kind of deal
in the first place.  The precedence is an extremely dangerous one.
Hopefully, they really have awakened and will spend all that money they
normally invest in incumbents' campaigns to help impose a few term
limits.
