To all fellow California road dwellers. all other states breath a sigh
of relief.
The CHP are pulling vehicles to the side of the road and performing
mobile smog sniffer tests.
I want to inform you that this is purely voluntary at the moment. When
approached for this test after being pulled over simply respond (if
this is what you want to do) I do not wish to participate in this
voluntary program at this moment. Give some excuse as to being in a
hurry if you want. Then proceed on your way.
For confirmation call your local CHP office and ask to speak with the
consumer affairs officer to get the confirmation. I heard this on the
radio as well as the Sacramento main officer say this when asked by
the local talk show host Geoff Metcalf.
