GH-> I am using QMPRO 1.51 and a USR 28800 VE modem and I get a lot of CRC
  -> errors when I D/L but none when I U/L.

Set you port rate to 38400.  Is that an internal or external.  If
External, make sure your port is a 16550.  DOS' MSD.EXE will tell you
what you have.
Does it do it on all BBS'?
