| subject: | Microwave Oven Dying? |
-> I totally ignore the market values around your area but let me tell you -> of my one experience in fixing one. My son's oven quit and he of course -> asked me to try and fix it. I did but this was no bargain. The PS in it -> had failed beyond repair. I got a second hand one and was able to -> insert into it and get it working again. The 2nd hand PS was $60.00 and -> market here at times, has a sale for the same size oven of $68.00. Why -> would a new PS be more expensive than a complete oven ? My rationale is -> that if the 2nd hand one was $60.00, the new one if available, would be -> more. Easy answer to that one. Most devices are designed and built to be Buy/Use/Throwaway. As such there are Little spare parts run off i nthe initial production run. As they break down and those parts are called for the much smaller of batches bought equated to a much higher cost part. And as you saw perhaps even more then the Replacement cost of the device. It is the price of so called "Progress" we have made in peoples Standard of Living. Rembember when only the RICH could afford a Microwave oven.
