 Yeah, I managed a similar private sale (trading post) - got a 64, 1541,
monitor, printer & about 300 disks for $150. After 3 weeks in the
trading post & not sold, he basically said 'take it'.
Bing Lee discounts had a big computer sale about 6 months ago, and I got a
brand new 64 powerpack for $99. (64c, 1541-ii).
I guess I've managed pretty good eh? (:
You're right, they arent worth repairing, because you can usually get
another 2nd hand for the same price as the repair.
I'm almost at the stage of repairing them myself. After talking to a
couple of repairers, it seems that 75% of the time its a blown ram chip or
2. These suckers cost less than a dollar each, so all you have to do is
find which one is stuffed (often easy because they are boiling hot) and
replace it. Not worth $65 or so to repair when you can do it yourself...
