All I can say was that it was a great day to sail yesterday!
Big winds for the dinghy racing and only two boats got broken.
Neatest thing about that was both separate boats were broken
by the same driver. Yes, his name (not mine!) is going into the
record books at the YC! (BTW, he's good, really, _really_ good.
He's about 16 yo and has, earlier this summer, raced in a
national regatta in Annapolis, MD per invitation)
A strange day, as I had 2 different crewmen on the 3 races that
we got in. My boat didn't win anything for it, but I did. I
learned a lot from those two.
Part of it was that I was no longer in last place after the first
race. In fact, I was in contention on the final race.
Last night was great in my learning curve due to the efforts
and instruction of one of the junior sailors in the sailing
school program in the first 2 races. My crew on the last race
was one of the normal crew for a boat that we race _against_ on
Thursdays in the "big boat fleet".
It's not too often that your competitors in a sport will help you
get yourself better to compete against themselves. As much as
I would like to win one of these races, I have already won, due
to their assistance, and more importantly, friendship.
... When in doubt, go for a sail..
