Actually there was a bit of confusion there, what I said was "up to
speed" as in advice like "You should get lharc.sfx, arc.sfx, as
they are the only popular archivers. You also need rgdiskutils, as they're
what everyone uses to ...". I have been absent for a long time!

RG> What am I supposed to comment on ?

Not telling me that there was a way to get an 7-fold speed increase is a
fairly major omission!

RG> Part of the reason for the near 100% compatibilty with the CMD HD drives
RG> is because they generally plug into the serial port, same as any other
RG> CBM drive.. however, they do have the provision of hooking them up via
RG> a parallel cable if you also have a Ramlink, this makes 'em 7 or 8

And why would you lose compatibility by doing that? BFN.

P.S. The hard disk prices, provided by Exceldata, if I wrote them down
correctly, were:

prices for CMD hard disks:
245meg $1395
170meg $1150
85meg $995

If that is correct, I will get the 170 meg drive, as the jump from 85 to
170 costs $1.80/meg, which is about as good as you get, and should delay me
needing to put in a new drive for quite some time.

P.P.S. Some people talk about a "parallel port". Do they mean
the User Port or the Expansion Port?
