-=> Quoting Terry May to Stephen Frazier <=-
TM> On 12 Dec 96, Mark Wohlers K'd Stephen Frazier for saying:
SF> The players make physical errors, which are a part of the game. The
SF> mistaks Cox has made have all been not just mental, but idiotic and have
SF> cost the Braves the Series (in my opinion) three times.
TM> I guess Lonnie Smith's base running prowess was "physical."
No, but putting a junkball pitcher (Liebrandt) into a ballgame against the
best junkball hitting team in the league, to face the best junkball hitter
(Kirby Puckett) in the league sure as hell was.
And a game lost to the actions of a player are more acceptable (to baseball
people, anyway) than those of a coach or manager.
And whose fault is it that a baserunner doesn't know to look to the COACH
when
rounding second base? Even little leaguer knows to do that, and they don't
earn millions to do it. The reason the Braves are so bad at fundamentals is
because they have no one teaching it to them.
