MG>> if I explain the process
MG>> used for the photo not showing me propped up negates the whole purpose
MG>> of the shot. As you know I am a member of an international fan club
MG>> (international meaning we have members in many countries. At the time
MG>> that photo was taken (Aug 06) I was a member of the board for the club
MG>> and there were no pictures of me suitable to go in our international
MG>> newsletter. Some people in other countries (and at least one person in
MG>> this country) are less than understanding about people with physical
MG>> limitations being in line for the chairmanship (I was third in line
MG>> behind the Chairman) and out then board decided that we'd prop me the
MG>> way we did for the photo. The speech was given at that year's annual
MG>> business meeting and it wasn't possible to hide my chair when I wasn't
MG>> on the stage, but we had no foreigners that year. Can you believe we're
MG>> even having to have this conversation in the 21st century?
What should be unbelievable is that you so stereotype
foreigners. Do you remember the big dispute over the FDR
memorial? FDR specifically did not want any memorials that
showed him in his wheelchair. The "disabled" groups rebelled
against that, and demanded he be shown in the chair.
You were so determined to be elected you allowed your need to
outweigh the opportunity to advance the cause of the disabled.
On top of that, you 'justify' being seen in the wheel chair on
the basis that there were no foreigners. More steroetyping.
You pander to those who you catagorize as prejudiced, for your
own agenda.
...
BK>>>>>> Go back and reread how your lot spun out the
DVD thread, to
BK>>>>>> absurdity. I said there were rewritable DVDs.
Your lot went on
BK>>>>>> about how she never said *NOT ALL* DVDs are
rewritable, so she
BK>>>>>> was right when she said you can't erase and reuse a DVD.
BK>>>>>> So, you are the masters of semantic nonsense.
MG>> For the record the "E" involved in that thread was EC
not EH. Klahn's
BFD! Notice that I said, "your lot"? I couldn't recall if EH was
one of them, so I specified the group he hangs with.
...
BK>>>> The fact that you referred to her as "slumped in
a wheechair"
BK>>>> shows your prejudice against the handicapped.
EH>>> the correct term is *disabled*. "Handicapped" is the term
EH>>> used by bigots.
MG>> You are correct, however in regards to myself I deny both phrases. I
He is not correct. You are not the entirety of the "disabled"
community. Many object to either word, many to neither.
And if this was a discussion of black vs Negro vs African
American you would be screeming "Politically Correct!".
MG>> acknowledge that I have limitations I didn't have before (IE I can't
MG>> stick my foot behind my neck anymore because I tip over while attempting
MG>> it ), but I'm not dead or paralyzed. I'm so much
better off than many
MG>> people who do fit those terms I have no room for complaint about not
MG>> being able to dance en pointe anymore.
It that is your only loss, why do you insist on the wheelchair?
Why not a walker, or cane? Many with conditions like you have
described do so.
...
MG>> Funny in most echos in Fido changing another poster's words in any way
MG>> are a one way ticket out of there.
Saying the exact same thing back to a poster is not banned in
any echo I know of.
