I have had periodic problems of this type, mainly with shared
printers. Most of the problems disappeared with FP1, more with FP5. I
also installed the MPTS fixes - wr08421 is the latest, but be SURE you
get the converged stack version.
One trick that also helped, at least for a while was this:
Open the Connections folder in tree view. Expand the Network tree.
Expand but the File and Print Client Browser tree - DO NOT OPEN THE
ICON VIEW. From the tree view, drag all the client icons to the
shredder. Run CHECKINI and clear all the crap out - delete the missing
folders, etc. It's a long process! I've also tried UNIMAINT, but it
skips network related errors so a lot gets missed.
Immediately shut down and re-boot. That usually got my systems back
in sync. There seemed to be something confused in these folders. I
might mention that adding and deleting Peer stations and hardware
causes some wierd stuff to happen. If, for example, you replace a
CDROM, be sure you remove it from the share list before you pull it
out. My system hangs if I forget then try to delete a share for a
non-existant device.
