That may be true, but in George Peace's case, he was active in his own
way. I used to touch bases with him and also used his system as another
source for echomail. Right up to his leaving in 2000.

Sure! I'm very happy to oblige you on that one...:o)

FidoNet - An Unofficial Page where truth is stranger than fiction,
and humor abounds when the Emperor Has No Clothes.

Fidor, FidoNetr, and the dog with diskette are registered marks of Tom
Jennings and Fido Software.

So, What's Up with the "Official" FidoNet Web Site?

For years www.fidonet.org has been FidoNet's Official Web Page. Rather
than present an attractive and positive face for visitors, the page offers
little information about the network.

Despite offers from several Zone 1 Sysops with web authoring skills,
the former IC, who owns the domain name, allows it to stay in the present
state.

Despite numerous comments and queries in the various venues, the owner
of the domain has made no anouncement of any proposed changes to the web
page.

Of interest is the fact that the fidonet.org domain name is controlled
by the current ZC2, who was voted out of the IC(International Coordinator)
position by his peers.

As of May 20, 2001 the following items apply to the "Official" FidoNet
web site:

    * The link to the FidoNet Policy Document brings up a page that does
      not include the entire document.

    * The section entitled How to Join Fidonet references Policy 4, which
is not complete on the site, and instructs the prospective member to
contact the closest Network Coordinator...while there is no link to
      any list of coordinators.

    * Links to FidoNet Regions
o There are links to only three of the six Fidonet zones.
o The link to Zone 6 points to a web page that does not exist.

PS - Talk about controversy - The lead-in to "How to join Fidonet" starts
out with a contradiction.

"Fidonet membership is not to be taken lightly. Every member has certain
responsibilities, set forth in Fidonet Policy 4. There is really only one
rule -- that you run an FTS-0001 compliant mailer during ZoneMailHour
(ZMH) daily."

Which is it going to be, Policy 4 or just that one rule?
