| subject: | PM programming on the cheap? |
-=> Quoting Tom Almy to All <=-
TA> What's the cheapest way to get the necessary tools to do PM
TA> programming? I have a few Windows programs I want to port, but since
TA> it's not a commercial undertaking I can't justify the several hundred
TA> dollars for Visual Age C++.
The only affordable package I know of that supports multiple
platforms is Watcom C/C++. It costs around 200$ (100$ for students).
It supports Dos 16 and 32 bit, Windows 3.1, Win32 (don't know the version
level), Win95, WinNT, OS/2 16 and 32 bit.
TA> I've been using GCC/EMX, but it's not up to this task.
What problems do you have with it? By the way, v09c has been
released and some report that compile times for C++ programs is very
much improved (probably due to an improved implementation of malloc).
