Hello Vladimir.

29 May 06 16:42, you wrote to me:

Codepage 850 is a compromise that includes most of ye symbols that are in
use in Western Europe. Most, but not all. F.e what is missing is the Dutch
character number 25. It consists of a concatenated 'i' and 'j'. What is
also missing is the Euro symbol.

But not for all.

In which you are not unique either. Many others have similar problems. In
fact the only ones *not* having those problems are native (US) English
speakers. The ones who designed the ASCII character set.

No maybe about it. Intercity telephone costs were a big issue here in The
Netherlands and a seven year cost sharing war *was* fought over it. It is
recorded history.

We dealt with it somehow. No reason why you can not do the same.

 VD> May be.

You do not have to take my word for it. Just ask a few other old timers in
Westren Europe. Or go thtough the FidoNews archives.

Cheers,

Michiel
