I'm not too sure, John.
She'd have to build a grass-roots following that's just too strong
for the Democratic Party power brokers to ignore. Despite all the
Dems' posturing about women's rights, I just don't see "the boys"
accepting Hillary as long as they can field anyone else; she's a
headstrong, ruthless woman who isn't likely to toe the party line.
Besides, I really don't think she has the widespread popularity
(not to mention respect) necessary to wage a viable campaign.
Sure, she's a strong, intelligent woman who's widely acknowledged
as the power behind Bill's throne; but that doesn't mean she's
actually liked by many people. In fact, Bill's popularity is
based largely on sympathy for 'the dumb henpecked husband of a
frigid and/or lesbian wife.'
