Quite likely there is still quite a role for a Fidonet-type of
communication where you are and in most of Russia. There's no use in
disputing that I think.
 
Nevertheless, you are a bright guy who knows how the world more or less
functions. You know that your country is in a massive "catch-up"
operation with the rest of the world, same as all the "back of the
woods" areas in Russia and other former Soviet republics. The internet
eventually will break through there at the same level as it is here now.
 
At that point Fidonet is a gone'r except for the few diehards who give it a
semblance of life. Compare it to the radio-amateur hobby or
stamp-collecting.
