When I showed up a few weeks ago, a big brouhaha was going on over gating
usenet posts to Fidonet, and vice-versa. Some people don't like change or
Fidonet leaking out onto the internet, while others like to see Fidonet
expand and adapt to the times. It's hard to choose a side for me, since I
see reasoning on both sides. So while I wouldn't rule out the possibility
of people being against other networks meshing back into Fidonet, I'm not
sure what exactly the complaints could be, either. But I was just thinking
that the reason there are other networks might be to in fact avoid the
politics here in the first place.

Personally I feel that nearly any idea that could bring even a couple new
people into the fold is worth considering. Popularity happens in a
snowball effect, and you have to start somewhere.
