Hi, thanks for the message. Janetville is where the BBS resides, I am in
Linsdsay, and they are both approx 1.5 hours north of Toronto. Your'e not
the first person who told me that the Siren is a great sailboat. In fact,
not knowing anything about sailboats, I bought it on a friend's
recommendation.
I do have a question right off the bat. Can I really right the boat if I tip
it over, and how much water will it take on? I am guessing it takes on
hardly any. I am worried about this mostly because I am sailing in a shallow
lake (and because I don't know how to sail) and the mast will get stuck in
the mud if I'm not careful. Lake Scugog by the way. It is on a "dead end"
tributary of the Trent-Severn Waterway. It has lots of wind and is sometimes
like clockwork.
The boat came with a main and jib (with furler). Is that what you mean't or
did you want more details?
Anyway, I have some time to gather more advice from more experienced sailers
for now because I'm "dry docked" for a few weeks on account of my lawn mower
didn't take a liking to my hand under the shrowd. I don't need anymore
advice about keeping hands away from lawnmowers (I got lots of free advice on
that) but I sure would appreciate some sailing pointers.
Thanks. TR
