FD>I didn't see your original message but saw a reply. There's a bug in
FD>the program. If you go to bottom of the register and then scroll up
FD>line by line, you should see the correct values and balances as you
FD>scroll back down. However, the fix won't hold.
FD>I reported this to Intuit and called a couple of other times but they
FD>say they can't duplicate it. I was able to get things back in line
FD>by going back a few days and pulling a backup off tape and reentering
FD>a few days transactions. You might be able to restore one of
FD>Quicken's backups and accomplish the same thing but I'm not sure.
I just had the same problem in a credit union account. Called intuit
tech support and they stepped me through a fix. I wish I had written it
all down. Took about a 5 minute call via long distance. The process
involves shutting down quicken then re starting it while holding down
the Cntrl key and one other I think the "D" key and starting quicken.
This starts quicken with no file selected. Then she had me select file
and select it while holding down control "Z". Then we copied the file to
a new name called "TEST". I then open this file and everything was OK.
so I deleted the old file and renamed the test file to a new name and am
now using it.
The techie said that everyone should re-index their files every month or
so. You will find the re-index area under file/file operations. There
are about 5 options there including re index. It apparently cleans up
the files and organizes them better. Suffix B in my Quicken 3 book on
page 370 discusses this and gives some commands.
I suggest that you call intuit to get stepped through this. I had an
account that was correct the month before then all off a sudden had A
$1000 error. I could get it correct by going to the start of the file
then stepping through it but when I came to certain point the error
would reoccur to the previous step and would follow me backwards. I
tried reentering it retransfering it etc all to no avail.
Only the copying of the file which automatically re indexes fixed the
problem. Tech Support said copying reindexes much more thoroughly than
just re indexing.
Hope this helps
