Right!
I have been reading Clifford Stoll's book "Silicon Snake Oil" where he points
out some problems with the so called "Information Highway".
Here is a quote:
On the issue of computers vs reality "I see the same thing in school
districts big and small. Vancouver Island, site of massive deforestation, is
considering hooking up their elementary and middle schools to the Internet."
(to study the problem -- much deleted) "Why not just rent a bus and drive
everyone to Clayoquot Sound, over by the edge of the rain forest, to count
banana slugs and thousand-year-old cedars?"
I will continue with some of this later.
