And so it came to pass, on 09-11-96 18:40,
that Greg Cobb spake unto Mario Lemay:
->> Lot of people misundrestoud the real use of an equaliser.
GC> I know you're right about that.
Ain't it the truth though!
->> That why you can see a BIG "V" (formed by the slide pot) on the
->> front panel :-)))
The infamous smiley, seagull, or disco EQ curve... ;-)
GC> That's not always the best way to set your pots. Ninety per cent of
GC> the professional systems I've seen have most if not all sliders
GC> below flat.
That's because you introduce less noise, phasing, and other anomalies by
cutting rather than boosting frequency bands. If it becomes necessary to
boost some bands, the whole curve should then ideally be shifted down so as
few as possible go above 0.
->> The real purpose, it's for correcting exxes and lacks in the
->> frequency reponse due by the room and the sepakers system itself.
GC> You can't reproduce/enhance a frequency that isn't there. If your
GC> speakers are capable of hitting 20-20K (figuratively speaking) an
GC> eq doesn't do much good.
I think you mean, if your speakers AREN'T capable of 20-20K, no?
