Leonie: Glad we got all that straight!  I knew you did searches, but I 
thought William Gage not only did the newsletters but also searched -- so 
guess you stepped in at the right time, and will you convey this to the 
person who asked me in the first place.  On the NYC search, you have to know 
the borough to search in.  The birth index is available through on microfilm 
with some adoption search groups, and I believe is also available with the 
NYC Library. There is a special room you go into to search the index.  I have 
all the information if you want to puruse.  Let me know the borough. 
Somewhere I have a name of a person who will actually go and look it up for 
you -- but I can't recall who it is right at this moment. Maybe it will come 
to me.  It may be even someone on this Adoptees' Echo.  You might put up an 
SOS to see if someone responds who lives right in NYC.  I assume you are
