Well, for starters turn hot fix back on. It is not a very wise idea to
turn it off, especially as the drive gets a little age on it.
As for the memory problem, this is one of those situations that may
require you to place your AUTOEXEC.NCF in the DOS boot partition in the
C:\NWSERVER directory so you can turn off AUTO REGISTER MEMORY in your
STARTUP.NCF and then REGISTER MEMORY {starting address/address offset}
in the AUTOEXEC.NCF, *after* the server name and internal ipx number and
then issue a MOUNT ALL command to force the mounting of your volumes.
Oops. Forgot to mention. Move your line that loads your .DSK driver
from the STARTUP.NCF to the AUTOEXEC.NCF, right after the REGISTER
MEMORY line. If you leave it in the STARTUP.NCF the SYS volume will
mount automatically before the REGISTER MEMORY command can be executed,
defeating the purpose of my suggestion.
This has to be done on some systems in order to get all the memory
registered. Might I mention that you should also have ALL the current
patches in place to include the new LOADER.EXE patch to the SERVER.EXE
from the 410PT6.EXE patch archive.
If this still doesn't allow you to see all your memory then you might
just have a MLB that doesn't properly report the memory (as far as
Netware is concerned). This may be a BIOS problem. If so, contact the
manufacturer and see if they have an updated BIOS that fixes the
problem. If not, a different MLB may be needed. Insure the MLB you use
is listed in Novell's certification list. You might also want to
contact Novell if all else fails. They may have other suggestions.
Hope some of this helps.
George
