Right, and we didn't NEED to ride him hard, so we just waited till he
was old enough it was no longer a question of closure.

Mid-size horse. Next time you're at a place that sells tack ask to see
a cob-size bridle. It's too small for a horse, too big for a compact pony.
I personally consider it a cob if it's between, say, 13 and 14.1 hands. He
is most likely a cross between a horse and a Welsh Mountain Pony-sized pony.
I believe that a lot of Fjords that I have seen in person were about his
size. although I understand they can be larger.
Arab stuff doesn't always fit - I bought him an Arab halter once and he
couldn't open his mouth!
