Hello Alex.

10 Jun 06 09:02, you wrote to me:

AS>>> May be in your neck of the wood it's a museum, but it is not here.

MV>> If it isn't already, it soon will be.

AS> Sure. If we will not get rid of your destructive passivity it,
 AS> definitely, will be.

Me passive? I am one of the most active members of FidoNet, I write a
couple of messages almost every day. I am one of the few die hards that
still keeps it going.

AS>>> That's why I want to get rid of your destructive influence

Making me go away will only accelerate the decline of Fidonet.

MV>> What is destructive in calling things what they are? Not doing so
MV>> is self delusion and *that* is never a good idea.

AS> No, your desctuctivity is not in calling, but in a passive attitude.

I am far from passive.

AS> In the times of crisis passivity is destructive.

Doing something just for the sake of doing something - as you want - can be
very destructive. Have a look at Iraq. Do you believe they are better of
now, now that "something has been done"?

MV>> If that new zone is part of FidoNet, you will still be in the
MV>> museum whether you like it or not.

AS> I don't care what you think about it.

Shooting the messenger will not make the message go away.

Fidonet has become a network of sysops. The users have left for greener
pastures. Point numbers are dropping like a brick. Have a look at the Z2
point list. Two years ago it was 3MB compressed. Now it is only 1 MB. And
shrinking.

Draconical and destructive measures like splitting up zones will not bring
the points and users back. That is the message. Shoot the messenger, the
message is still there.

MV>> We are all in the same Fido. If I am a museum item, so are you.

AS> No, I'm not, because I try to act and you just passively lies and wait
AS> for the death. In a way you, as a fidonetter, is already dead.

I am still writing am I?

Michiel
