subject: Turbo Pascal to OS/2 Pas

Hello Jerry!

They already support Delphi ( non visual extensions ) and the OWL clone
since 1.0... And compatibility is very good, ported a 900 lines school
assignment to OS/2 only by sticking uses use32 to it. ( it wanted to have
the time )

JL> They also claim compatiblity with Turbo Power's libraries.

They have even added systools,

IMHO the most interesting parts of 1.1 are
- Very fast linker, support exepack 1 and 2 ( 90% of the time better than
LxLite ( by a few bytes but still )
- Exception location information, if your program crashes, the linenumber
and the name of the source ( i.e. cd2.pas ) ( works even for asm statements
)
- Using dll's is really simple, just stick a {&DYNAMIC
IWantToUseThisDll.lib} in the source and VP will sort things out like what
units are located in this dll and makes them dynamic
- It also supports .sym files, very interesting when having to enter the system...

And they are working real hard on getting the VCL ported to VP/2 with the
intention of making it as compatible as TurboVision is with VP/2.... So
imagine having someone writing a delphi app for win* and the moment you get
the source being able to compile it with not much work.

I have been using Virtual Pascal since the beta and the Early Experience
Program beta's ( 1,2,3 and 4 ) and I like it very much. The development
team is very responsive.

B.t.w. VP/2 delivers smaller code than Delphi...
