subject: drivers last summer

Hi Richard, you where saying:
RG>When it comes to who should get the right away on the road, I
RG>always keep in mind that the car driver may not be aware of
RG>my intensions when riding my bike. I would also consider
RG>that they might not even know that I am there. A 20lbs.
RG>bike is no match for a 2000lbs + car. As I was saying about
hear, hear, being a driver at times myself, I like a rider
on a cycle, that is assertive and seems to know where he/she
is going and gives indications of doing so....
On my bike I'm very cautious and defensive....for the very
reasons you stated above...
RG>those fellows in the car that tried to scare you by
RG>speeding up when approaching you, even though they may not
RG>want to hurt you the fact is that there dangerous driving
RG>can cause injury by mistake. Some how that message has to
RG>get to this type of driver let it be by reason or force. So
RG>ignoring the event does no good to anyone.
Ohh yes Richard it does good to someone...Me...hehehe
cause if I would get mad, and let them sort of guys get the
better of me, I might do things I would be sorry for after.
But I agree with you, if you feel real strong about a situation
like that, do take action, whatever you think is right, but
I doubt very much you'll be able to improve the behaviour of
them hoons by trying to stand over them.....unless you want
to declare war on them..... grrrrrrr
RG>As for my chain problem, I brought it to the shop and the
RG>mechanic told me he did not think the slippage was due to
RG>my brake lever (the ratchet system), but he could not
RG>undrstand how it could happen. So he did a few adjustment
RG>to the front derailleur and now I must wait till the
RG>weather is better so I can try it out. I can't complain
RG>About the service since the shop didn't charge me.
Well, I hope it works for you now. Spring is around the corner
and soon you'll be out there zooming along and enjoying the
countryside....and be able to test your gear again...
Greetings from Redland....Bill
