I know that Paul. 

If you go back and read the thread you'll realise that Bob was asking why
you didn't just hook into fido again after your exile is finished ie use a
Type-2+ tosser and continue to be a FIDO node.

I said there probably wasn't any fido software around for Linux as that was
the way you were going. He mentioned you had written all this portable C
code for fido that you should be able to use. The implication here was that
you would recompile it!

That's about when I wrote the line above starting with JG>>, If
gating was mentioned it would've been in regards to me gating the echoes to
UUCP for sending on to you as that was the way you were going ie internet
newsgroups/mail.
