Not completely but you would start noticing things like spider solitaire
doesn't start (shows that donut thing then nothing happens) and you wouldn't be
able to get into your network properties anymore (that stopped working as well
and worked again as soon as I removed the null routes).

So in a way, yeah, you'd be screwed if your dsl went down for any period of
time. I only had the null routes for 3 days before I started to notice things
not working anymore. And the worst part is, you get no notification, it just
acts like the computer is broken or something and you waste a bunch of time
trying to track down the problem. After the video thing I decided maybe this
was a result of the block and while it didn't cure the video issue it did fix
solitaire and the network properties.
