UUPC is just one implementation of UUCP.  Just like Tinypoint, Binkley etc
are all implementations of FTS-6.

No, not a full BBS, but yes, you will need a messagebase (but that's no
different from your QWK messagebase).

Yes, the comms etc all change (at least to start with).  The UUPC package
should have everything you need except the reader itself.  At this stage I
recommend UUPC, more because it's the "only" thing I've heard of
before.
