Regarding libsmapi: SMAPI is a port of the Squish MsgAPI, dating back to 1991. XMSGAPI is my port of SMAPI to allow it to run on more platforms than SMAPI supports. The Squish MsgAPI documentation is available with the XMSGAPI distribution. It is in .txt, .rtf and .pdf formats and documents the MsgOpenApi(), MsgOpenArea(), etc, functions.
