You are correct, I just hadn't found newsgroup support in Windows Live Mail.

I knew Windows Mail already did newsgroups, I've been using it off and on for
over a year...

   Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail Desktop both support newsgroups. I'm
using Windows Mail right now.

  That's the one. Beta is kind of a misnomer here, semi-unsupported would be
a
  better term -- real beta's aren't released to the public for years. I
  happen to use this at work for an emergency email account. (when our email
  WAN is down)

  Windows Live Mail doesn't do newsgroups, so I'd have use 2 different
  programs again, which is non-optimal. (I've used WLM)

     I only know of one removed feature, the always beta access to Hotmail
via
  DAV. If you want this use Windows Live Mail Desktop which is in beta.
You
  can find it at

     What features have you found removed?

    Actually it's OE with even more bugs and reduced features.
