Hi again Jim
JD> We have a woodstove in our house, and we heated with it 100% for 2
JD> winters. Shut the pilot off in the furnace so we couldn't cheat. My
JD> 'cyberbarn' is heated with a stove to this day.
JD> This gives one an appreciation for natural gas! You are a slave to the
JD> stove, during the heating season, and before. (you gotta make the wood
JD> supply ahead of time!) You quickly find out how much more wood you have
to
JD> carry and burn to keep the place at 72 degrees instead of 68!
We live in occasional snow/ frequent frost and the home heating is about 50%
piped gas, 40% heat pump and 10% portable elec. Our daughter half a mile
way
buys firewood. Having to PAY for the wood supply before use, reminded me of
the happy days when oil heating was all the rage. The oil company always
managed to fill the storage tank just near the start of summer!! $$$$
The chimney sweep told our daughter, don't use the damper run it wide open
otherwise your chimney will burn.
He may own the firewood business?? Cheers......ALEC
