In that case, you'd do better to pick up a used Tascam 424 for $300 or so.
You'll be spending a lot less and get better quality with less headaches.
Yes, digital recording is great, but it requires a fairly fast machine, LOTS
of hard drive space, and the hardware/software combination will easily run
you $500 or so. The advantage is that you are limited in tracks and
recording time only by your available HD space... the mixers can usually
handle only 4 to 8 tracks at a time, but you can record and store 256 tracks
and sub-master them down 4/8 at a time.
