subject: UUCP!!!

G'day Paul,

Replying to a message of Paul Edwards to Bob Lawrence on 19/05/97:

BL>> You sent me all sorts of shit and the two little files in my spool
BL>> file were uploaded to you. I got Jeff's tml stuff too. This looks
BL>> like it might work! A small catch was that it sent my own replies
 BL>> too...

PE> What do you mean "your own replies"? Are you talking
about messages
PE> that were posted here and that Jeff gated into the UUCP side? If so,
PE> then that is what I would expect. If you don't want dupes, you
PE> simply stop calling BOTH fido + UUCP, choose UUCP only.

What he means is, everything he sends to you via UUCP is sent straight back
to him on his next call with everybody elses stuff. UUCP doesn't
discriminate when tossing it seems. This isn't a real problem for Bob
unless he dislikes his own messages. This happens to me via my Dialix uucp
feed also.

For me as the gateway, it means that each packet headed out into fidoland
will contain the messages I sent you to from fidoland on my previous call.
This is a problem!

Could you ask your friends if there is a way around this?

Regards...Jeff (jeff{at}matra.com.au)
