Who says
"my.echo.with.a.very.long.long.long.long.name.dedicated.to.spam"
won't be added to FIDONET.NA in the future?

Why are you only looking at FIDONET.NA in particular?  There are many other
FTN networks spanned around the globe.

I could ask many other questions but I don't think I'll bother.  Suffice to
say that I believe limiting fields that were once unlimited is, IMO, a step
backwards.
