The checkup was fine, but ...

I've had some tests this week, and will get the results next Monday (29
Sept). All things being well, these should be a nothing.

A few weeks ago, I had bronchitis and went to the doctor and got
antibiotics and he gave me an Xray slip for the following week in case I
didn't come good. Just my luck, that when I finished up the
antibiotics, both Rod and I came down with a nasty case of the flu. I
swear I'm still getting over it. So when I thought I was reasonably over
the flu and still having pain in my chest, I had the xrays done and saw
my doctor the next day.

The upsetting part of the ray was that it showed both my arms as
'hardening' (ie 'sclerosis'). No big deal on my right side as
it's been funky for awhile, but my left side is new, and that's a
worry. The Xray results recommended a bone scan and since I just had
one in February, I kinda quized about it and he thought the best idea
would be to see what the breast cancer docs thought about it. So they
consulted and decided I should bring the xrays to the clinic and they'd
discuss my case at their weekly 'multi-disciplinary' meeting last
Tuesday. Well they did, and then gave me an appointment for today.

Apparently one of the doctors at the meeting saw a shadow that could
mean the lining of my lung (pleura), might be inflamed so they want to
do a CT (cat) scan. They also want to do another bone scan.

My doctor (the BC one) did stress that the shadow seen was very subtle,
so subtle in fact that the first tech who read my xrays and did the
first report didn't notice it. So this all really could be a nothing,
and same with the bone scan. They're playing it safe.

I've been taking codiene stuff the last few weeks for the pain, and have
only gradually worked my way to taking two of the over the counter Extra
Strength Panadols every 4hrs and wish I had sooner (was trying to avoid
taking too much of the codiene stuff). Anyway, the last two days I have
felt a bit better, but I think that's due to the drugs. As they wear
off, I'm just as sore as I have been. If it's a nothing, the pain is
just my chest muscles repairing themselves from my recent bout of the
flu (first I've had since radiation). I am hoping that this is all it
is. Scary stuff. If it's not nothing, it's either lung cancer or mets
to the lungs from the breast cancer. Ick. :-(

Cheers,
Gaelyne
