I've got one of those Radio Shack freq counters and I have to tell you, I've
never had much luck using it find unknown frequencies. I don't know whether
it just lacks the needed sensitivity, or if I'm not being a very good
"snoop." Granted, I do like the counter. It works very well and a test
counter and it's relatively cheap. But I think if you're wanting one for
"snooping," you'd probably be better off spending a little more money and
getting one of the units from Optoelectronics.
