Kathy, your hellish week sounds just like ours during the ice storm. We
had no power for 5 days. We decided at first to stick it out here, but
as the temperature slipped down to the 50s, we hit the road looking for
a motel. Found one, but it lost power that night. Luckily, it didn't
get as cold as my house already was. Spent several hours the next day
trying to find another motel with power AND vacancies. My husband
finally claimed to be a truck driver with the company he is a supervisor
for, and got a room they reserve for their truckers. Had to sneak the
birds in and TRY to keep Zigs quiet, but we were warm and had water. My
birds were REALLY loud when we finally came home, too. I had been
whispering to them and covering them up for 4 days, so we were all
relieved at the end of it.
Glad you and your flock survived. Fifty degrees gets really chilly
after awhile, doesn't it?
