_Most recently_, a message that seemed to have been lost appeared "later" than
expected, but arrived!  This was last week IIRC. The OP let me know about that
after I posted a reply to him about things he should check on his system.

It has happened, yes.  It is also true that sometimes some system burp can
delay delivery.
