       what the hell?

 I can't believe that people are interested in this silly Australian
Idol talent quest. How stupid are Australians? I used to think we were
safely cynical, that we merely smiled at promotions like this one and
got on with something interesting... Jesus!

 I admire Ch10 for coming up with such a sweet racket, first used by
Ch9 and their Millionaire bullshit... charge 55c for a telephone call,
cut Telstra in for 20c, and then attract a few million calls that not
only pay for the show, but show a profit! I admire the scheme - I just
can't understand why anyone is stupid enough to fall for it.

 Now Oz Idle works even better!

 I despair of Australians. We used to be smart, cynical, we trusted
no one and could smell bullshit at a hundred metres. Have we imported
too many Chinese, Lebanese.. what? Why happened to our bullshit gene?

 For God's sake! It's a talent quest! No one gives a flying red fuck
about amateur hours any more... do they?

 Anyway, I'm glad that the dork in the fright-wig won. If ever there
was a no-talent going nowhere, he's it.
