Well Long, Long ago I tried using the MS Workgroups for DOS (I think that's
what it was called) which allowed a dos machine to be a peer in a WFW
network. Total Crap. I was trying to do the same thing you were, set up an
old 286 as a print server. I go the thing to install and connect but if
someone sent a print job to the queue while a message was being printed
from a different machine the queue would lockup.
From my past experiance it is not worth the effort screwing around with
these old DOS machines. The software is no longer supported (unless it's
win9x/NT don't expect any help from M$). Considering the fact that you can
pick up a 486 for a couple of bucks why bother with it?
