Hello Matt -

CA>> There has been talk of the door gaskets leaking on older
CA>> microwaves and that they weren't shielded properly in
CA>> general. I think everyone would be better off to use the
CA>> money for repairs to get a newer microwave.

MM> Door gaskets leaking? I haven't seen a door gasket on a
MM> microwave for over 20 years. :-((

I am relating this from memory. Possibly they referred to the
'seal' or some other word and I paraphrased. Obviously I don't
attempt repairs to microwaves here.

MM> The doors just 'close'. Sometimes they can even wobble and
MM> rattle. :-((

MM> My two old Littons DO have SS mesh door gaskets, and a
MM> latch handle that looks like it was taken from a submarine
MM> bulkhead door. Heck, the smell of burning food doesn't even
MM> leak out... :-)

MM> They don't make them like they used to, but then, they no
MM> longer cost $800 either...

Generally I just let these conversations go by but since my
brother was employed at RCA and GE and has witnessed at least
one accident where a person was injured I thought I would mention
it.

Discussions of working on TVs 'hot' and working on Microwaves
seem to be a formula for disaster to me.
