 Actualky JPG/GIF and HTML are very poor media for Schematics. They
loose resolution quickly when Magnified don't they.
pdf appears to use Vector Grapgics and they magnified quite a bit before
loosing any resolution at all. In theory you can go on almost endlessly
but there may be some limit. 
I know that the Auto-Cad program, which I believe uses Vector Graphs,
they had at the 800 Bed VA hospitial I worked at could go from a Full
Floor plan all they up to the Smallest Closet with NO loss of detail.
