Back then everything did run under OS/2, we were forced to move to NT mainly because of Autodesk. MS Office became a standard as well that helped kick the horse. I just can't see the MS OS model lasting much longer. >The trick is not to get so integrated that you can't ever move again, >everyone wants integrated systems but there is a downside to too much >integration. Can't help it irt to AutoCAD. We'd need a very compelling reason - like a "new" CAD package that is quickly adopted by everyone - that would allow us to move on. We'd need plenty of other application vendors to have products that ran natively on the new platform. I wonder if we'll get back to where we use to be with small, tight applications which, by their nature, would be a good fit for internet distribution. We're starting the install of Autodesk 2007 products...talk about code bloat, these pigs are quite portly! - Richard --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 261/1 38 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
